Pitra Dosha deals with curse of forefarthers. It is said if some one in the past history of the family has died an unnatural death, there is curse afflicted on the family. And it has been observed that it passes on from generation to geneartions. In order to confirm that the isues in the present life of an individual are due to the Pitra Dosha, the horoscopes of other individuals in the family should also be analysed. If the similar affliction or the dosha is found, then only the Pitra Dosha should be confirmed and its remedies should be sought.
You should look for a weak & afflcited planet posited in the dharma trikona of the horoscope. First house is the house of your physcial being. It is the house of ansestors, it represents our grand fathers.As first house is the ninth from the fifth house.
Fifth House is seen for the grand father. As it is ninth from the ninth(from where father is reckoned). Thus any affliction particularly of a planet by Rahu or Ketu in the 1st, 5th or the 9th bhava (house) is reckoned as the Pitra Dosha. The mere presense of Rahu or Ketu in the 1, 5 or 9th house should not be construed as Pitra Dosha. The affliction of a planet by Rahu / ketu amounts to this combination or dosha in a chart.
Apart from the strength of Sun if Sun is weak in horoscope like it is seated in the 8th house, may amount ot some sort of problem to father or grand fathrer. To establish Pitra dosha in a chart, it is advisable to check more than one horoscope in the family and if similar type of afflctions are seen in the horoscope, the dosha may be conformed.
It is said, that woman gets married into another family thus it may not be instrumental in passing on or carrying forward the Pitra dosha in the family. It has been seen that females suffer from genetic disorders and cary the hereditary diseases like hypertension or diabetes from generation to generation. Thus women horoscope should also be analysed for Pitra Dosha.
It has been observed that in some families women suffer similar fates post marriage. They may not bear child or may get separated. This is seen running over the generations. Thus establishing Pitra Dosha causing problem in the women as well.
It has been observed that Pitra Dosha is instrumental in denial of progeny. It may cause stress by having children that are specially abled. And again that runs across generations. Venus - Relates to the curse of a woman in the family history. May lead to no female child across generations in the family. Or the sufferings or untimely or difficult deaths of women in the extended family.
Mercury - curse of a child, may lead to denial of children or male progeny over the coming generations.
Sun - curse of father. May lead to issues with father or affect negatively happiness from father, oruntimely death to father, uncles in the family.
Moon - Curse of mother. It denotes unhappiness, suffereings of the mother and mother figures in the extended family.
Mars - untimely young death or sufferings are depicted by Mars in the Rahu/ Ketu axis in the first, fifth or the ninth house.
Jupiter - Curse of teacher, priest or a brahmin is denoted by this Pitra Dosha.
Saturn - Curse of servant, old person in the family.
Depending on the planet causing Pitra Dosha in the horoscope, the remedies should be performed. For example if Venus is afflicted, the donation of Venus related items like clothes to a woman would help. If there have been old age deaths in the family with depilitated conditions, then donations to old and needy people would help.
For example, if many generations have been facing accidental deaths of the young people in the family, the curse of Mars due to Rahu / Ketu be established. In such a case, the Puja and propitiation of the planets should be carried out.
Donations and rituals should be performed properly. Particularly, in the shradha Paksha, a proper ritualistic Puja is performed and that helps alleviate the sufferings.
Pitra Stuti is chanted on Shradha Paksha, on Amavsya and on Sakranti. Amavasya refers to the tithi or the lunar date when Moon and Sun are in the same sign. Sakranti is the day when Sun changes sign.
Makar Sakranti, when Sun enters the sign of Capricorn, that day and the month is considered highly auspicious and performing Pitra Puja and donations during the month have been prescribed in the shastra and Vedic scriptures.
